Gully and Inspection Chamber

Gully and Inspection Chamber.
If some one was to mention the word ‘Gully’, or drain and even inspection chamber it is highly likely that you will not know what they are talking about. Don’t worry there are lots of people the same as you. It can be very confusing.
For a professional plumbing service, though they are common words. Barnet Plumbers can work on these gullies and chambers. These particular words are not a big deal in the normal course of daily life. That is of course until you need to convey to a plumber or retailer a description of the thing that has a problem.

The Gully:
This looks just like a grid although it is called a gully. It includes a trap mechanism that is filled with water and a U-bend set up at the end of the system. This will remove the waste-water that drains from the kitchen sink. It is also fitted can also be seen at the bottom end of rainwater pipe stopping it from getting blocked with leaves. Gullies need servicing at various times. The waste gully for the kitchen needs to be monitored as it blocks regularly with food and other debris.

Inspection Chamber:
The waste-water from an upstairs bath or wash basin leaves through a funnel-shaped item called a hopper which is secured to the rear outside wall very close to the bathroom. Under the force of gravity it runs down to the grid at ground level. There it meets up with waste-water from the kitchen sink, and then on to the inspection chamber and then finally to the sewer. Waste from the toilet slide down their own pipe called a stack/soil pipe then straight into the inspection chamber. It is then washed away by the wastewater from both the bathroom and kitchen. New build homes use a single stack system. This takes all the waste down the same large diameter pipe. A Barnet Plumber can service stacks.
